Info on the new DIRECTV DVR
[Archived in Entry]
[Krunker] The information about the new DVR comes from a manual of the R15 DIRECTV Plus DVR which will be released in October. Several new features are included in the DVR including a 90 minute rewind buffer, frame by frame movement, bookmarks, caller ID display, DirectTV ACTIVE support.

[Pvrblog.com] Exclusive First Look: The New DIRECTV DVR | PVRblog: I can assure you that DIRECTV has a strong relationship with TiVo and we have not ended our relationship with them. DIRECTV held a small equity stake in TiVo which we sold in 2004, but this transaction will have no impact on customers who have (or are thinking about getting) our DIRECTV DVR with TiVo service.
[Sysinternals.com] Mark's Sysinternals Blog: Cable DVRs and Competition: A couple of years later its disk was too small for the programs all I was recording and it lacked some of the features available newer DVRs, like broadband, so I compared the TiVo and ReplayTV's current versio(which was being sold by Panasonic after it acquired SonicBlue). I decided to go with ReplayTV again, because it matched most of TiVos features, but primarily because I was familiar with it and its ability to skip forward 7 or 30 seconds makes it extremely easy to avoid commercials.
[Strategize.blogspot.com] Strategize: Preview of the non-TiVo DirecTV DVR: The DIRECTV Plus receiver will automatically save a program to your hard drive while you watch. This enables you to fast-forward, rewind and pause live TV.
[Gizmodo.com] Gizmodo: The Gadgets Weblog: I’m sure this Sanyo LP-Z4, which sports a 7000:1 contrast ratio, has a 1280x720 resolution and supports 1080i/720p with an HDMI plug, will be much sought after on the Guerilla Drive-In scene. I can only hope that the previous generation of home theater projectors are being donated to local schools, home to the A/V geeks who grow up to become gadget Gods.
